• Capstone Projects and Community Challenges

The UA Community Challenge project was launched in August of last year to match community challenges with students in capstone senior project classes and directed research student and engaged learning programs. Problems were sourced from startup companies, agencies, other UAx programs, and the investor community. The program has been effective in developing an "open innovation" message and connecting the University to projects that have impact in the community.  I'll be summarizing the projects, lessons learned, and our next steps to further develop the program for the next academic year. On April 26 (world IP day) I'll be hosting a round table on the program and how to develop a platform for engaging UAx units with other programs and students across the UA system. I'd like to use the WERC meeting to share the results and start the discussion about how to improve the program.
