Discharge, or volumetric flow rate, is a critical characteristic that defines flow in a river. Many different methods are used to measure flow rate, and this presentation will cover a variety of such techniques. Discussion will include gauging methods and equipment needed for measuring a range of river sizes, from summer low flows in beaded streams to flood stages during breakup on larger rivers.
