The MAC laboratories utilize both plasma mass spectrometry and plasma emissions for the quantitative analysis of more than 70 elements.
In general, the selection between ICP-MS and MP-AES is a matter of sample concentration, with ICP-MS being significantly more sensitive and better equipped for low ppb, and below.
ICP/MS
Trace level cations such as cadmium, chromium, arsenic lead, selenium, and rare earth elements.
MP-AES
Minerals/higher concentration cations such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, iron and manganese.
Internal/UA clients | External clients | |
Analysis for one element | $15 | $25 |
Additional elements (each) | $2.50 | $5 |
Set-up* | $30 | $45 |
Dilution and reanalysis* | $5 | $10 |
The costs shown above is an estimate, and will be discussed and agreed upon prior to sample analysis.
*A flat rate will be charged for this and is independent of the number of ions requested.
Setup cost reflects the cost of calibration, duplicates, augmented samples, and QC checks.
When sample results exceed the instrument calibration range, a dilution and reanalysis will be required.
