While a lot of our research is centered around northern ecosystems, especially in the the context of global change, WERC research faculty and Alaska Stable Isotope director Matthew Wooller has taken a glance at the Neotropics. In a paper co-authored by Wooller and published in Biological Letters, researchers studied 30 long-term paleoecological records to gain knowledge on the recovery rates of Central and South American tropical forests in response to disturbance events:
