The UAF Total Precipitation Sensor is installed at the NOAA-NESDIS Gilmore Trail facility near Fox Alaska. The unit is co-installed with one of NOAA's Climate Reference Network (CRN) stations and it mounted to the top of the CRN tower.
The sensor head is at approximately 15' off the ground. The area is in a large, flat clearing on a hillside. The sensor is wired into a CR1000 datalogger and uses Freewave radios to transmit the data back to the NESDIS administrative building.
Here a Moxa serial server is connected to a dedicated UAF network, managed by the Geographic Information Network for Alaska (GINA)
