M.S. student Evan Joyce is surveying the effects of tides on the Snake River (around Nome, Alaska) using water level sensors.
The student deployed and retrieved water level and salinity sensors in the Snake River and the Port of Nome in 2024; before major changes occur due to a planned port expansion.
Water level and salinity data will be analyzed to estimate how far the tides from Norton Sound push up the Snake River.
