• Permafrost and Groundwater in Goldstream valley
    • Abraham Emond and Ronald Daanen (DGGS & AKDNR)
    • March 23, 2018
  • Image above: Current research in Goldstream Valley on the effects of permafrost on groundwater flow shows that Airborne Electromagnetic surveys can help identify permafrost and point to groundwater flow paths. These datasets can be used to inform state of the art physically based models used to reconstruct current permafrost distribution from historic climate and disturbance regimes. The models can also predict groundwater movement and change into the future..

This presentation will discuss the ins and outs of permafrost mapping with geophysics, and show results from modeling all the geophysics data together (AKA the 3D permafrost map).
