AIL is a multi-instrument resource that specializes in elemental and surface analysis and related techniques. I will provide an overview of our instrumentation (EPMA, ESEM, TEM, AFM, XRF, XRD, FFF, (LA,LC) ICP-MS, and FTIR), explain the acronyms, and discuss principles of instrument operation and analytical capabilities. I will present several science vignettes in biology, geology, and environmental sciences to showcase how AIL resources have been used to answer specific research questions.
