• Recent Airborne Remote Sensing of Snow and Ice in Alaska
    • Jessica Cherry (Research Associate Professor | GINA, IARC, NorSS LLC)
    • September 23, 2016

This talk will discuss results from recent airborne measurements of snow and ice in Interior Alaska from imaging (optical, near infra-red and thermal infra-red) and microwave sensors using Structure from Motion and other techniques. The use of airborne imagery for satellite cal/val is shown for several types of studies. The author has two Cessnas modified for this research effort and will also discuss the economics of airborne measurements from unmanned versus manned systems.
