Gel encapsulated Iron Oxide nanoparticles are here used as a sorption media for separating oil from an oil-water mixture. The sorption was studied for nanoparticle concentrations of 1-5 g/L and with sorption times up to 480 minutes. The experiments allow a determination of optimal concentrations of nanoparticles and ideal time of sorption.
