WERC announces funding for water research in 2012

The Water and Environmental Research Center (WERC) of the Institute of Northern Engineering has announced a call for proposals addressing water resource issues in Alaska. Approximately $92,335 will be available for 2012 projects.

Faculty at all Alaska colleges and universities are eligible to apply. The start date of projects is March 1, 2012. Proposed projects should address water-related research needs of Alaska. Proposals will be evaluated by outside reviewers and by WERC Director William Schnabel.

Proposals are due by 5 p.m. AST Dec. 9, 2011. Notification of selection will occur within two weeks of submission. Application guidelines are included in Attachment 1 of the Request for Proposals (RFP).

According to the official RFP issued by WERC, funds for the Section 104 Institutes Program, U.S. Department of Interior—Geological Survey (USGS) are currently being sought through Congressional appropriations and the final dollar amount is yet to be determined. Funding is contingent upon Congressional allocation of FY 2012 program funds.
