Billy Connor presented a summary of his and Rodney Collins work on soil stabilization using fibers and chemicals at the Road Dust Institute Conference in Las Vegas on November 8 and 9. There were almost 200 participants in the conference at which the latest work on dust management and soil stabilization was presented. Participants included practitioners, researchers and suppliers.
This presentation shows that sands and silts can be stabilized allowing the use of local materials for roadway and airport construction. The question is no longer how strong can we make the soil? It’s now how strong do we need to make it? This work has been recently highlighted in ASCE Magazine.
